I think BOTH Modernlux AND Futures are fantastic brick and mortar shops that need more support. The thing about these shops is that they are curated with unique, hard to find, collectible items…not present-day mass-produced things. Which means…you may find those Bertoia chairs you’ve been hunting for at one store and not the other, but maybe the other store has that rare Paul McCobb credenza you’ve been hoping for. I have had conversations with both owners, and they both know their stuff. Gary is (hopefully) keeping his eyes peeled for a particular chair for me, while Ron has given me some good advice on how to clean up my street-find Eames chair. Really people…get out there and support BOTH of these guys!

Might be worth your while to visit a business right in Norfolk that is as hip as they come: Futures, at 39th and Granby. The owner, Ronn Ives, is more a curator than a purveyor. The guy knows his stuff.
