Who’s That Girl: February Florals

With Valentine’s day quickly approaching, and springtime just around the corner (thank you, Virginia), it seems safe to assume that tons and tons of florals will be popping up soon—both in nature and fashion.
I’ve been a floral lady for quite some time, but there’s something really fantastic about florals in the spring. Perhaps it’s my inner urge to blend into beautiful things that keeps me in a constant flowery camouflage, or maybe it’s how I stay feeling elegant even on the stalest of days. Either way, florals are timeless and they are happening!

Elisa.
Take Elisa Nyassom, for instance. Just before she catches a bus to DC for the weekend, she is gracing Shirley Avenue in Ghent with her delightful mini floral print shirt dress worn casually over leggings and topped with a nice solid cardigan. This outfit has comfort and charm written all over it. She even took it an extra step to use some vintage lace ribbon as a dainty headband.

Angel.
Angel Graves knows how to adventure in her newly acquired floral blazer. She has paired nice, comfortable denim, a silky button down, and a fantastically high bun to create this flawless and fun look. Her blazer is my favorite kind of floral pattern: Victorian wallpaper style.

Ashley.
Ashley Fielden, blogger and crafter extraordinaire, found this amazing vintage dress in Atlanta, Georgia, and this dress is such a gem. This color scheme is genius—punchy pinks and faded yellows bunched over a lovely shade of teal. Ashley threw on some perfect mustard tights and leather boots to match the charming belt, and there it is: a perfect February floral!

Speaking of February and Valentines Day, maybe there is added meaning behind the lovely flowers we so dearly love to wear (and give). It’s pretty common knowledge that red roses symbolize true love, but together, white and red represent unity. Carnations in red provoke love and passion; however, in pink, they embody womanly affection. Poppies inspire imagination and yellow tulips declare hopeless love.
Until next month!
