Physicians for Peace

For more than 20 years, Physicians for Peace has mobilized volunteers to educate, train, empower, and support healthcare professionals working in vulnerable populations around the world. On missions, you’ll find volunteer physicians, surgeons, nurses, midwives, therapists and psychologists along with photographers, tasked with the challenge of documenting their work. These photos speak to the inspirational outcomes of their missions and represent their vision for a healthier world. Taken between 2005 and 2010, the individual photos come from missions in Haiti, Morocco and Rwanda. As a collection, the photos emphasize the rich and lasting connections between people, rather than our differences.

Physicians for Peace is headquartered in Norfolk and the photos that will be shown during Art|Everywhere were all taken by volunteer photographers with ties to the area. Their photographers are Kris Giacobbe, Stephen Katz, and Roberto Westbrook. The images can be viewed at Bean There Cafe on Granby St.
