You apprenticed under the painter Philip Savato; his influence shows itself in your brush strokes and use of color in your landscapes. What are some other ways that a formal apprenticeship was influential to you?

An apprenticeship not only allows you to see how the master sets up his/her studio and use the materials but also allows one to understand how the artist thinks. From Phil, I learned how to try to find the poetry in the sidewalks and the romance in the telephone poles. Spending many hours listening to him describe how his work is conceived was the greatest learning experience that I had during my apprenticeship.
