Friday Featured Artist: Pamela Hill

On your Facebook you call yourself a “‘late start’, self taught artist”, being that you only started painting three years ago. What inspired you to start? And how did you go about teaching yourself to paint?

I began painting out of curiosity, actually. I wanted to test the waters, so to speak, to see if I had the ability. Within three to four canvases I was painting emotional stuff… unresolved childhood issues, so to some degree it was therapeutic. I began with cheap acrylics and basically “winged” my way through it. I learn with each and every painting how to control the paint. The only way anyone can learn to paint is to paint. Make your mistakes and learn from them.
