Your work is–in my and many people’s opinions–highly successful, and it is collected around the world. How do you define success? And what advice would you give artists to achieve that success?
Thank you. That is a tough question that I ask myself often. Unlike other professional endeavors, the success of an artist is not necessarily tied to financial achievement. There have been many talented and famous artists that have died thinking they were failures. For me, finding balance between being true to my art and every other aspect in my life is the best that I can do! It is not easy. Recognizing this, I feel lucky that I have been able to spend so many years focusing on and developing my art.
