We are starting to get the feeling that there are a few of you out there who value what AltDaily brings to the table (other than the pot brownies, which we DID NOT bring.)

The editors/publishers of AltDaily; just a couple of geishas making their way through this crazy world.

We’re not going to waste your time selling our worth to you right now. If you don’t see the value in honest-to-goodness independent alternative media whose aim is to build a better community in Hampton Roads, I don’t know what to tell you. And if you don’t see how independent journalism is necessary to make democracy work, and how it holds up a mirror to society and asks, Are you okay with this?, I don’t know what to say.

Furthermore, if you don’t think Hannah and Jesse both have really cute butts…again, I am left speechless. But I guess maybe that’s not the point here.

We are a small business. We both are working two jobs while we try to make this work. We love this magazine, and we love our role in this community, but we do need help. Loads of it. Here are easy ways you can pitch in, if you’re so inclined:

- Bulk up our Facebook page. A high percentage of our readers come from Facebook. So it’s important we have as many ‘fans’ as possible. To help, go underneath our logo where it says ‘Suggest to Friends’. You’ll then have to go through and click each individual face. Yeah, it takes a few minutes, but it’s huge for us.

- Patronize our advertisers. And tell them AltDaily sent you. Our advertisers are awesome. We have a policy of seeking advertising from places we genuinely support and like ourselves, so we stand by them. Let us reiterate: make sure when you’re there you mention to the owner or manager that you noticed them on AltDaily. (See below for our sponsor list.)

- Advertise your business, service, art, band or event on the site. We actually have fantastic ‘numbers’. Contact Hannah for more info: hannah@altdaily.com. And if you can’t advertise, but you have a business with open wifi, consider making AltDaily.com your homepage.

- Contribute your writing. AltDaily is you, yah know? State your case. Support your cause. Let us be the first place to publish you if you’re a newbie. Or contribute your art to our regular Friday Featured Artist series or your photography to our These Beautiful 7 Cities series. Contact Hannah about the art, jesse@altdaily.com about the writing.

- Tell your friends about us. A very small percentage of people in the 757 have even heard about us, and the rest won’t until you tell them.

- Re-post stories you like on your Facebook and/or Twitter feeds.

- Donate. If you’re feeling generous this Christmas, there’s a ‘donate’ button at the bottom of the page. We also accept hot meals, massages, and pep talks.
