As you fire up this video blog, prepare yourself for a lot of nervous screams from yours truly–

you see, the one and only time I have ever in my life been ice skating, my cousin accidentally skated over my fingers as I was sprawled out on the ice for the bajillionth time. I’ve been terrified to try it again ever since.

But it’s hard not to resist the call of a cool rink on these hot summer days. And now that there’s ice skating down at Norfolk Scope every weekend ($5 covers admission and skate rentals), it’s a little tempting to go over there just to beat the heat.

Then, when Admirals Hall-of-Famer Dennis McEwen agreed to give me a quick lesson earlier this week, I finally broke down and decided to give it another shot.

The results were…less than spectacular. Ah, who am I kidding–it was totally embarrassing. But, you know, I can be a good sport (when the camera’s on).
