Special Election in VB Tuesday… Be Special Enough to Vote in It

There’s a special election being held in the 8th district of Virginia Beach on Tues, January 12th.
Voters are electing a new state senator to fill the vacancy created when Ken Stolle stepped down to run and win the office of sheriff of the City of Virginia Beach. Jeff McWaters won the Republican primary against Rosemary Wilson in an ugly battle that each attacked each other as being too liberal and not right-wing and corporatist enough.
At the last minute, Democratic candidate Bill Fleming has entered and is running a stealth grassroots campaign targeting Democratic party voters. I’ve had the chance to meet Bill a few times, and he is a man of intelligence (a physicist), ethics, and a long-time environmentalist. There’s a good chance that he could win since there will be a small turnout in this election–and if we can get the progressive vote to the polls.

ABOUT THE WRITER
Tench sleeps near the ocean and spends his mornings with his dogs in the real-life Pandora of First Landing State Park.
