On Valentine’s Day, we are inclined to reflect on the expanding love we have for this area and for you, the people who make everything we do worthwhile.

That being said, we are constantly reminded of our limitations and the many things that keep us from delivering more. This list reflects our desires, for anyone who feels the Love and has the ability to grant wishes.

1. A headquarters space. Preferably with a storefront (to display art and positive notes) someplace high traffic. We’re going to be able to do so much more good once we have a space. In Jesse’s fantasies it’s like a scene from Milk up in there. (Uhm… the community activism scenes.)

2. For all of our Facebook fans to look at the bottom left of the AltDaily page. Click “Share.” You can then post the page to your wall OR “send as message,” which is probably even more helpful.

Shout-outs on Twitter are nice too.

3. A bus so we can do a free shuttle between nightspots. Yes, we said “free.” We’ll work it out.

We like to eat too.

4. A managing editor type person who doesn’t need to be paid. (You’re out there. We know you are.) We shudder with joy at the thought of how good this magazine would be with one more driven, competent person on the editorial team.

5. More advertisers. Times are tough in our industry, and life’s always a struggle for a new business. You show us love when you help us pay our bills.

6. Someone who would be passionate about getting our print edition off the ground.

7. Someone who would be passionate about getting our SEO running hot and heavy.

8. More buildings for the Hampton Roads, The Canvas project.

9. Art | Everywhere 2011 interns.

10. Someone to spearhead the AltDaily Community Garden.

11. Donations to Out in the Park.

12. New MacBooks (ours are dying quick.)

13. Art.

14. A bunch of bikes to jumpstart a public bikeshare program.

15. A pick-up truck to make a mobile garden.

16. Someone excellent at surveys.

17. A house where we can hold retreats.

18. Someone who’d like to hang out and cook for people at the retreats.

We want to make T-shirts of nice things like this, for example.

19. A screen press for our T-shirts.

20. A good printer for our fliers.

21. Someone to spearhead AltDaily Field Trips.

22. Writers/citizens who want to share concrete ideas for improving our quality of life around here.

23. Mix tapes. (For inspiration)

24. A new car for Hannah – Hey, we dream big. Or someone to help her fix her current one.

25. Vespas or scooters or motorcycles.

26. A better-than-iPhone camera so we can take prettier pictures of this place we love.

27. Someone that can help us get the 21st St. overpass painted.

28. A giant white board.

29. A big table, like from King Arthur.

30. An accountant. Or someone much better with numbers than we are.

31. Big hugs and encouragement from everyone who appreciates what we’re trying to do.
