We kind of slacked, as you can see, since this was intended to be a weekly newsletter. But we’re getting on it. What have we been doing that’s been keeping us so busy? Well, apart from expanding our editorial with stories like these…
- We’ve improved the site in many ways, for instance, removing the registration function to make commenting easier. (The “discussions” have already begun, and some have been…well, a little heated…)
- In our featured artist gallery we have exhibited works by several talented local artists, including Dave MacDowell, Stuntkid and davmo, whose work is currently on view at CAC.
- We’ve forged growing partnerships with sponsors new and old:
- TReehouse Magazine, with whom we share special featured content.
- ODU Lit Fest, which we will be covering in depth next week with exclusive interviews and previews.
- The Muse, our co-sponsor for our literary contest. The current one calls for creative nonfiction essays and will be guest judged by bestselling author Janine Latus. Click here for details. Also, AltDaily co-editor Jesse Scaccia will be teaching a fall class at The Muse in (what else?) Writing about Local Culture. Click here to register.
- NARO Expanded Cinema, whose FirstLook Film Forum has just begun.
- And as always we’ve been hooked on our Facebook. Add us and get all our headlines (plus hilarious video clips and random thoughts) streamed to your friend feed.
