Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
We Need Your Help
Tonight at the Off ABC License Hearing!
Tuesday, January 27 at 7 p.m.
Norfolk City Hall, City Council Chambers
Please attend if you can.
We need and would appreciate your support.
If you can say a few words in favor of the licensing, please call Bev at 650-1428 and arrive by 6:30 p.m. to sign up.
We will not sell 20 or 40 oz. beers, we will only sell beer in 6 packs or cases
We will only sell the wine and beer at room temperature
(except for certain craft beers that require refrigeration because they have no preservatives)
We will only sell Virginia wines and regional craft beers – not domestics
Our hours are limited – the Market closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and 3 p.m. on Sundays
The Farm Market is unique. It’s not a convenience store that takes money out of the community, it is a non-profit that gives back to it.
Many Thanks -

ironically, i will not be up to make this meeting because of alcohol related insomnia (i worked a night shift last night and have been awake since about 10 pm). seriously, though, this is a point that illustrates that the farmer’s market is not just a pet cause for idealistic norfolk residents with disposable income: this literally effects alkies like myself with a measure of civic pride. i love the local beer selections at the boot and county grill and the taphouse, and more than that i take pride in enjoying them so much. i wish virginia brews were more widely available and supported so they could have a more thriving homebase to build from. i’m feeling guilty now looking at my 7-11 purchased miller high life. i’m feeling pretty irresponsible being too deep in alcohol consumption and sleep deprivation to commit to this worthy appointment. i need a proxy! somebody get out there and redeem me! and please be more eloquent and focused than i would be.
Well Mr. Booker,
As long as your eyes are not to unfocused to get the cursor over the email addy link at the bottom of the blog, you can still make a difference in this cause that you are so fervently supporting, but not supporting tonight. I will send an email in as well. My excuse was that of parental responsibility and slight stuffiness of nasal passages. It would be more fun to have the excuse of extreme intoxication… hmm would that help the stuffiness?
