New Track Streaming From Hercules & Love Affair Spin-off

deep-red

One of the best releases of last year was the self-titled full length debut of DFA affiliates Hercules & Love Affair. I reviewed the album for No Ripcord, where I called them “a bracing collection of talented modern outcasts to imagine dancing with 30 years ago.” Now Urb.com has posted news of a side project called Deep Red including the talents of Nomi Ruiz, Morgan Wiley, and Andrew Raposo. To listen to a free stream of the track “Fun Girl Mixed”, check out Urb’s post here.

Another cause for contention in our musical collaborations, Booker, is the fact that you like disco. I often try to forget this minor character flaw of yours, but some trendy DFA band always comes along to remind me. Perhaps we could delete this post and nobody ever has to know, buddy.

i would die for disco, which is, contrary to a few semi-popular expressions, not dead.

ABOUT THE WRITER

George Booker is writing this about himself in the third person. He was considering second person, maybe making this the "Bright Lights, Big City" of bios. He was looking into casting Micheal J. Fox in the forthcoming film adaptation, as the disabled actor would likely portray him with ample charm, sympathy, and fifty-something boyish handsomeness. Recently, however, Booker has realized that only Anne Hathaway or Chiwetel Ejiofor could really capture his essence. Late 20s, Norfolk raised music writer. Former DJ and production head for WVFS Tallahassee, former staff clerk at defunct Norfolk music stores DJ's and Relative Theory. Current Film Editor and Contributor to No Ripcord Magazine, contributed blurbs to Link and Port Folio Magazine.
