Last night at Red Star
Words Ty Bliss

It has been a long time since I’ve had to reduce myself to as tired and petty a cliché as this one but here goes:
To all of you who were not in attendance at the Red Star Tavern last night – and it would seem from the line we saw stretching around the building that I’m probably addressing a pretty small audience – “You should have come out dude.” Top notch spinning by my man Berk Visual,a lively crowd, and the two scariest words in the English language: Chuck Norris. Hip-hop star ]Ced Hughes dropped in to chill with me behind the DJ booth along with Greenville G’s the SpitzWell BrotherZ.
The crowd was partying like they meant serious business. Never before have I encountered a group more unanimously intent on celebrating. There were a lot of parties using the space and the vibes to get the most out of the occasion. In my wanders I encountered a record 4 birthdays with birthday boys and girls ranging from 24 to 45. Snacks and drinks were served by supernaturally attentive bartenders dodging expertly through the haze of mixed colognes and throngs of well dressed dancers and revelers. The whole place felt electric.
Oh…and…Chuck Norris! Surprised? I certainly was! It seems he was doing a demo at the nearby Linxx academy and stopped by for a drink. His handshake didn’t break Berk’s hand clean off, but that’s not to say it isn’t firm. Karate firm. Yeah, it was awesome.
And you missed it. Luckily for all of us this thing goes down every Saturday, for as long as the place stays jumping – so yeah, basically forever.
