I thought this was 2009 and not 1984.

What’s up dudes,
The more that I try to write blogs that have nothing to do with politics, the more stuff happens that make me want to discuss politics and try to find out what members of the liberal side of the house are really thinking. You see, I’m a logical person. I can be emotional but I tend to be logical. If you hit me with a logical defense to an argument that I pose, I cannot help but agree with you. Even if I don’t want to, I can’t help but have to say your right and I’m wrong. That being said, How can liberals continue to be so hypocritical?
It appears that President Obama doesn’t like the influence that radio host Rush Limbaugh has with members of the republican caucus. The President told the republican leadership last week that they should, “…stop listening to Rush Limbaugh if they want to get things done”. What kind of crap is that? I mean really. Stop listening to a citizen of the United States has to say? Are you serious? The members of the democratic party who scream and yell and hold up such partisan hacks as Chris Matthews, Al Franklin and of course my favorite of the bunch, Keith Olbermann, as “voices of the people”. The liberals allowed these people to be as critical as they were about Bush 43, but when members of the right decide to hold Obama’s feet to the fire, they decide that we shouldnt be critical of the President. Now is the time that we have to come together? Come on, cut the crap for God’s sake.
The Democratic Party wants to censor Rush Limbaugh. They are calling for an online petition to silence Rush. Could you imagine what would have happen if anything like that would have been done to Olbermann or Chris Matthews while Bush was in office? All of you liberals who enjoyed the last 8 years and voiced how much you enjoyed it, screaming about “free speech”, should be behind Rush on this one. After all, no one silenced you while you walked about calling President Bush such things as a liar, a murderer, stupid, and of coursem telling the world how he was “Not Your President”. You don’t have to like what he is saying, but you have to allow him to say it.
You know, this is the second time that they tried to do this. Good old Harry Reid tried it about 2 years ago and that went real well for him. That was when Reid tried to say that Rush was critical of the what he called “phony” soldiers. Can you imagine who much gumption this man has. To have the nerve to call out someone who has publicly shown respect and support for the military when he showed his support by shouting out that the “War is lost!” Members of his party called soldiers everything from dumb and lazy (John Kerry) to murders (John Murtha), but there was no outrage to those members from good old Harry. Instead he decided to go out and tried to silence a private citizen.
I would think that members of the left would be incredibly concered about the government trying to silence anyone. After all, they base their entire movment on the ability to voice their concerns loud and proud. I stated in an earlier blog about how liberals were concerened about “Big Brother” would be brought in by conservatives trying to shut them down. My friends, With President Obama, the head of the Democratic Party telling members of the Republican party not to listen to anyone who speaks against him, especially someone who has any kind of public voice, this brings us closer to an Owellian realitiy than we ever had with Bush 43.

Sensationalism aside, Torres, you make a good point. Even Limbaugh has a right to voice his opinion. Rush has been a loudmouth hate-machine for years and we’ve tolerated him because we have plenty of opinionated talking heads on our side that can’t shut up.
There’s a distinction this time, at least as I see it: while the media certainly became very anti-Bush around 2002, this was in response to what they percieved as bad policies and decisions by the administration. Rush Limbaugh is actually encouraging powerful republicans to aide in the failure of Obama before he even has a chance to establish any policies, to actually do their best to work AGAINST him. Which, in turn, serves to encourage the failure and further divide of our nation. Rush actually said he hopes Obama’s economic plan fails. Gee, thanks Rush, I didn’t want to keep a roof over my daughter’s head anyway.
I’m not defending the guys on the left of the media, either. There’s a lot of hypocrisy and closed-mindedness on both ends of the spectrum. And I’m not saying that the “liberal media” has never indirectly encouraged a dissention against Bush43, but they’ve never directly told our politicians to speed our country’s failure up by being stubborn crybabies. Granted, I get my news from the Daily Show and NPR, but I know Rush has gone too far with this scheme – even for him.
And Harry Reid is totally irrelevant in this little debate. That was 2 years ago and a bad idea anyway. Obama is not trying to silence Rush or get him off the air – that online petition is just another example of extremism by the public at-large and has been going on long before “the liberal takeover” – our President has merely advised his colleagues that buying into Limbaugh’s partisan agenda of failure and stubborness is simply no way to get things done. Not so Orwellian from my end, is it?
Jerome, first of all I want to thank you for commenting on my blog. I appreciate that you took the time to read and think out a response. While I agree that I am sensationalistic in my blogging, that has to do with my inability to spell. If I could only articulate my thoughts and spell the words that I speak, it would probably be more intellicutally though out…..nahhhhhhhh
All kidding aside, I agree that Rush is a loud mouth, but I dont think that he is a hate monger. I agree with his statement of wanting Obama to fail since he believes, ilke I do, that Obama’s policies will make the country more socialist. At least his comments, while sarcastic, aren’t as hate filled as what Bush was subject to when he was in office. Rush is doing exactly what you said the liberals did in 02, make his statement against policies that he beieves wont work and will do our country harm. Rush has even come out and proposed an alternate policy for President Obama to consider.
The only reason that Harry Reid was mentioned was as an example of how the democrats had tried this in the past. I agree that he is irrelivent to the discussion other than he tried in the past to do the exactly the same thing that Obama is trying to do now, silence the right.
I’m not sure if you watch Fox News or not. I’m sure you have figured out that I do, but I also watch MSNBC. I try not to make comments without having listened to the other side, and believe me, when I come across an issue that I beleive the left to be correct on, I will be the first to post a blog about it.
I’m not big on too much discussion via emails, text messages and such. You can never hear the intent of the person when reading their words so I hope that this doesn’t come across as sarcasim or disrespectful.
In fairness, Fredo, I try to watch Fox News for as long as I can stand in order to stay moderately balanced. I can only stand MSNBC and CNN in short spurts, as well. I see a decided agenda on both ends and it wears thin rather quickly. And, yes, there was clear animosity towards Bush in the media, but I must maintain that this is a new low for Limbaugh. He’s reaching out to politicians and lobbyists to further his fued with Obama and that’s just too far. Of course, you won’t see it my way. And that’s okay with me because we each have a right to our opinions. But, while you may be a radio star, neither of us wield the kind of power that Limbaugh is being so careless with right now. And that’s where it gets tricky. What if Obama fails meserably? We’re just going to blame Rush Limbaugh and his Republican pals, now. And the “socialist” remark is used so often because it is hard to defend ourselves against premeditated trick questions and buzz-words. It’s like calling someone a Commie in the McCarthy era. I hate to justify anything other than democracy, but it would be so bad to try a few new things within the realms of democracy? I don’t think we need to submit to the sickle and star, but right-wing sensationalism seems to have the nation polarized and frightened to try to move forward. But that’s another debate.
You had me until you said that I was a radio star lol. You speak alot of truth my friend and it really does put a guy like me in a hard place. If Obama does fail, then the country will be in a worse place than it already is but if he suceeds, then the country will be in a worse place than its in now, (in my opinion). It’s like the story of my life, I cant win for losing.
I’m with you Fredo!! Here we have a servant of the people elected by the people that is attacking a private citizen. We’re next according to this!! Obama has bigger problems than Rush. I hope he fails as well. We can’t give socialism/marxism/communism a chance in this country.
