It’s going to be beautiful outside and it’s V-Day weekend. You don’t want to spend your time “overhearing” your roommate and his or her S.O. get to know each other better. Get out! Here are some great options of things to do:
Anthony Bourdain (Entertainment)
Sunday @ 8pm at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk
Tickets Range $45.10 to $56.00
757.664.6464
Nicknamed “the bad boy of cuisine,” he’s most well known for being the host of Travel Channel’s, No Reservations. Anthony Bourdain is also the executive chef at Les Halles in New York and the author of Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. While I’m unsure of what exactly Bourdain will be doing at Chrysler Hall, I still really want to go. In the words of Hannah–who openly admitted that if it weren’t for AltDaily, she would gladly be doing whatever Anthony told her to–”It’s Bourdaaaaain.” And that my friends, is reason enough.
Dan Cummins (Comedy)
Thurs-Sunday @ 8 or 10:30 pm @ Virginia Beach Funny Bone in Town Center
Tickets Range $15.00 to $17.00
“Absurd observations and dark autobiographical stand-up” is what you can expect from comedian, Dan Cummins. You might have seen his guest commentary for shows like G4′s “The International Sexy Lady Show” as well as his stand-up on various late night talk shows. This would be a perfect way to sneak in some laughs before breaking out the romance for Valentine’s Day.
The Valkyrie (Opera)
Friday at 8 and Sunday at 2:30 at Wells Theatre in Norfolk
Tickets from $29.00 – $110.00
Your last chance to see Richard Wagner’s dark narrative of a brother and sister and their love for one another. The Valkyrie features “Ride of The Valkyries” the legendary tune from “Bugs Bunny” and “Apocalypse Now.” This is a perfect excuse to get all dolled up and immerse yourself in some live art.
Norfolk Admirals v. Syracuse (Sports)
Friday @ 7:30 & Saturday @ 7:15
Tickets Range from $12 to $17.50
Maybe you’ve never been to a hockey game or aren’t a big fan of sports. Rest assured, hockey games are one of Norfolk’s not-so-little secrets of something fun and unique to do with either your family, significant other, or friends. Enjoy hot dogs, cotton candy, beer, and snow cones as you watch an intense, face-paced battle between giants. And make sure to keep your eyes peeled for a fight or two. That’s why we all go anyways, isn’t it?
