Plus, the Selden Arcade is accepting proposals:

The City of Norfolk’s Bureau of Cultural Affairs announced a couple weeks back a Call for Artists submissions for the fourth season of the Selden Gallery. Specifically, they are looking for professional contemporary artists interested in a solo or two-person exhibition. Artwork may be of any medium or discipline, including 2D, 3D, video, performance or inter-disciplinary work. And since I haven’t seen anything there in terms of video or performance, I highly encourage artists of those media to take on this somewhat more traditional institution.

For more information contact Scott Williams: scott.williams@norfolk.gov. Applications may be obtained by visiting Selden’s website, www.theselden.com or by calling 664-6880. The deadline for submissions is September 15.

Survey about the new Slover Library downtown:

Providence Associates, a library consulting firm hired by the City of Norfolk, wants to hear from citizens about what we would like to see in the new Colonel Samuel L. Slover Main Library, to be located in downtown Norfolk.

The quick, easy survey is found at http://www.npl.lib.va.us/slover/slover.html.

And then of course there’s Waterside:

As you’ve no doubt heard, the City of Norfolk is soliciting public input as to the future of Waterside. The “festival marketplace” has certainly gone through many phases, the present one being probably the most depressing. Let them know what you think by taking the survey at the following link:  Waterside Marketplace: Help Shape Its Place, Space & Identity.
