These are the days of our lives. How do you want to remember them?
From what I can tell you, you have two options. 1. Sulk about how boring this place is. Or 2. see how much there is to do and do it. Get out of your comfort zone.
Here is the list of things to do:

Midnight Movies
This Means War + The Secret World of Arrietty
12:01am @ Participating Theaters
$9-$17
Two movies battle it out this weekend. First up, This Means War, starring Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Laura Vandervoort, and Til Schweiger. Two of the worlds best killers share not only a friendship but a girlfriend dun dun dun. Of course, neither knows they are dating the same girl until it’s too late and they both have fallen head over heels. When neither decides to back off, a battle of epic proportions ensues. May the best man win. Here’s the trailer.
Next up, Kari-gurashi no Arietti or The Secret World of Arrietty is the latest from Studio Ghibli and Disney. It tells the tale of a young “borrower” girl named Arrietty who is discovered by a 12 year old human boy named Shawn. A secret friendship blossoms between the two that threatens to drive out Arrietty’s family if discovered. What will happen? Here’s the trailer.

It’s the dirty, filthy dance party you’ve come to love. My suggestion, as always, is to arrive early for the cheap drinks, get drunk, then get on the dancefloor. Don’t worry if you can’t remember all the cuties you talked to, Just Awesome Photography and Bradley Crump will be snapping photos all night.
Kiss and Tell

Saturday
VA BCH Gun Show
Presented by SGK
9-5 (thru SUN) @ VB Convention Center
Tickets $8
Here’s an event I always want to mention but somehow when I sit down to write my column it completely escapes me. SGK Gun shows are where you can buy a variety of items. They normally have 400+ vendors selling shotguns, pistols, tazers, beef jerky, holsters, t-shirts, accessories, ammo, and more at each show. You can also bring in a weapon of your own that you are looking to see and perhaps someone will take it off your hands.

If you support marijuana legalization than you’d better come out and support The Green Is Good. All proceeds will go directly to support the referendum and publicity.

Do you rock? If you’ve ever had the fantasy of singing in a band, here’ s your chance. Rockyaoke let’s you karaoke backed up by a real band. You can be as badass as you wanna be.
Kingshead | Equestrians | Courtships

If this was Facebook I’d be liking the shit out of this event. Just saying. Be there.
The Poly Opto | Glass Pennies

“Its gonna be a loud, sweaty night of fire, brimstone, and good cheer.” All of those things sound great to me!
Vices and Verses: Rock ‘n’ Roll in Words
DJ Todd Owens + The Hydeouts!
9-2am @ Colley Cantina
FREE
“The word “rock” has a long history in the English language as a metaphor for “to shake up, to disturb or to incite.” The verb “roll” was a medieval metaphor which meant “having sex.” You get the picture. Original readings by some local and some not so local writers, live music by the Hydeouts, and DJ Todd Owens spinning some tunes.

ABOUT THE WRITER
I like blaring shitty pop punk, singing along to Taylor Swift, Jellyfish, hair dye, video games (currently Skyrim), and anything Queen Elizabeth I. Oh, and I also am a worthy competitor when it comes to Just Dance.
