We’re primarily interested in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, but will consider any form of quality writing, audio or video recording of a writing performance.

AltDaily has become a vibrant Hampton Roads’ source for creative culture, intelligent commentary and pressing news. Now we aim to throw the spotlight on both established and emerging literary talents in the 757. Help us show the world how much talent the Seven Cities is hiding.

Submissions may be sent to literary@altdaily.com. Please include a short bio. We look forward to reading your work.

ABOUT THE WRITER
Jeff Hewitt is one of the founders of the Hampton Roads performance poetry scene. He was a West End Cafe poet, the host of the Casablanca Cafe weekly poetry reading for 10 years, heavily involved with the African American poetry community through the Urban Safari group, performed spoken word for a number of years as a member of the 40th St. Poetry Collective, and was a member of Norfolk's 2005 slam team. He helped start the still ongoing poetry series with the Venue at 35th Street, and currently is a partner and the Editor in Chief of San Francisco Bay Press and it's corollary semi-annual magazine, "Lady Jane's Miscellany." He has published over a dozen collections of poetry. His latest book, "and girls are made of stone and silent gardens" is available at http://www.sanfranciscobaypress.com. Jeff is currently working on a new volume of poetry, due to be published mid 2011.
