Jeff Hewitt is one of the founders of the Hampton Roads performance poetry scene. He was a West End Cafe poet, the host of the Casablanca Cafe weekly poetry reading for 10 years, heavily involved with the African American poetry community through the Urban Safari group, performed spoken word for a number of years as a member of the 40th St. Poetry Collective, and was a member of Norfolk's 2005 slam team. He helped start the still ongoing poetry series with the Venue at 35th Street, and currently is a partner and the Editor in Chief of San Francisco Bay Press and it's corollary semi-annual magazine, "Lady Jane's Miscellany."
