POSTS BY Jerome Spencer
Jerome Spencer was not born, but certainly raised in Nashville, TN. He doesn’t have a Southern accent, but wishes he did. He resides in Norfolk because that’s where his beautiful daughter is. By day Jerome wears a tie and vanishes into a sea of beige cubicles and khaki pants. Writing is what he likes to do in his free time. He wrote about music and had a weekly column for Portfolio Weekly, but defected to AltDaily before that ship went down. He still mostly writes about music. Jerome thinks life would be simpler if we all spent less time getting lost in our own perspectives and writing our own internet bios (in third-person, no less) and spent more time wholly sharing experiences with one another.

By Jerome Spencer

In his latest installment of “Reinventing Norfolk,” Jerome Spencer blames the holier-than-thou-tattoo’ed-hipster-elite of Cogan’s Pizza (and its Megatouch) for him sending a bad drunk text.

If you were to Google “Jedi Mind Tricks” right now you would get three results (not including videos) having to do with the rap trio of the same name before you got to anything about “The Force” from Star Wars.

Preview: Lucero @ JewMa

I won’t call them punk-country or “cowpunk” because both of those terms are stupid and conjure images of bands that just suck. Let’s just call it Lucero.

Reinventing Norfolk: The Beginning of the Getting-Over-Her Process

By Jerome Spencer

“My bucket of fries is now a bucket of loneliness.” Day One of The Old Adventures of New Jerome takes him back to Velvet, where the hip-hop and french fries haven’t changed…but maybe his heart will.
