Zombi 2 is known for one of the most iconic zombie movie scenes ever: the zombie vs shark scene.

What would I do if I could do it all over again? Would I continue acting the same, treating people the way I do? Or would I just do it all the same?

The murders of both Dr. George Tiller and Pvt. William Long are tragic. I’m sure that both men knew the risk of the occupation that they decided to follow. Yet the liberal media chooses to discuss how conservative programs like The O’Riley Factor led to the climate that resulted in the death of Dr. Tiller, yet choose to ignore the fact that they themselves have contributed to the negative image of members of the military, portraying them as murders and as morally challenged people who could care less for the rights or anyone. Does this sound fair to you? It doesn’t to me.

………..I want to talk about what that explosion might have woken up. The sleeping giant of the far east. I’m talking about Japan.

Once again it’s time for a ruckus. Rock and Roll Ruckus 7 is going on this Thursday at the South Beach Grill which is on the corner of Norfolk Ave and Birdneck Rd. For those of you who have never been to the Ruckus, you don’t know what your missing. For those of you who have never heard of the Rock and Roll Ruckus, you really need to catch up and learn something.

Now, before we get on the whole “Torres is going gay” thing, let’s get one thing straight. Every man has a man crush. The whole man crush thing has been done to death, but my man crush is different. You see, Neil Patrick Harris is gay. I don’t know how that affects the whole man crush thing

So I have many mementoes from all the shows that I have worked and seen. Autographs, guitar picks, drum sticks, posters, pictures with famous people, you get the drift.. Tons of things that I can look back on and go, “I remember that show. It was awesome.” Among all the stuff that I have there are some special things, let me tell you what they are…

So it’s been 100 days since the swearing in of the new president. Does anyone else thing that he was some really softball questions during his “Q and A” portion of that state of the union or whatever it was? Come on, seriously. Enchanted? The only thing that is enchanted is the media with Obama.

Maybe I’m wrong, but does anyone else care that the local scene has lost the “Locals Lounge”? I haven’t heard or read anything about the show being gone. Now how can I talk about this without sounding like I’m tooting my own horn? Bare with me while I make my case and then tell me if I’m right or just full of myself.

So the big question for fans of local music is …..Now what? With the loss of the locals lounge, what is going to happen to the momentum that the local scene was building up and what are you going to do Torres? Well, all is not lost my friends.

Well my friends I think it’s a sad day for local music. I just lost my radio show. The Locals Lounge is closing its doors. Changes are going down at Max FM and I have no idea what is going to happen. I don’t know, all I know is that for now, the locals lounge is done.

So it is official my friends, I kind of thought it was, but now I know for sure. After the last couple of years of ignoring the facts from people like Al Gore, that I was in fact this monster who was bring about the early destruction of our planet. But after the latest report from the World Health Organization and reports from The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and International Journal of Epidemiology I cant ignore it anymore. Fat People cause global warming.

The weather is getting nice and you knows what that means right? Lots of opportunities to see some of your local favorite bands outside of the regular bar scene.

So check this out dudes and tell me what you think. I recently had rekindled a friendship with someone from High School. It was someone that I was really close and I though it was awesome that we could catch up and see how life has been treating us. I mean, it has been almost 25 years. So come to find out that she has been reading my blogs and is none too happy. Turns out she is a liberal and had become very offended by my writings. Not only did she have problems with my blogs, but she felt that I should have stopped offending her with my right wing views……

So I saw one of the pilot on line bloggers talk about a mix tape and that you need to get it. I also think that you should a mix tape, but this one is straight local. So what I’m going to do is give you 15 songs from local artists that you should put on a mix tape. 15 different artists. 15 different styles of music. 15 songs that will get you into the local scene.

So today was tax days, and millions of people around the country rushed to pay their fair share, or more than their fair share in some cases, but millions also spent the day protesting those taxes much the same way our American forefathers did, by holding a tea party.

So this past Sunday I had Felicia Barton on my show. For those of you who don’t know who she is, she was the local young lady who had a little bit of a run on American Idol this year…..and If you were paying attention down at the beach last year, you could have seen her singing on the street.

Walt Redmond’s myspace page is still up and when you go to it, it’s kind of fitting that the song that plays when you first log on is called Prayers. For those who don’t know, He passed away on Tuesday and just like that, another soulful voice has been taken away. As you listen to the song, Prayer, you can hear the hope and urgency in his voice while he strums his guitar. It makes you feel that much more of a loss.

So I’m sitting here on this wonderful Saturday morning trying to figure out what the hell to do while I flip through the channels. For some reason, I end up on the ABC Family channel. You want to know something about this channel? There is no way that stuff on this channel is family oriented. In the five minutes that it is taking me to type this, the show that is has talked about sex, masturbation and gambling addiction, and this show is a “family” comedy.

Scott’s resume is impressive indeed. A 2007 Horror short that has won praise all over the world and taken top honors at two different film festivals. A Best Metal Video of the Year nomination by MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball. A video featuring none other than living legend Willie Nelson. Not bad for a guy who graduated college in 2005. One of the things he does best is though is music videos, and he has done plenty of them for the bands of the 757.

Is anyone else concerned about the bill that is being introduced to give the president control over the internet? I am.

Once again, someone claims to have the “pulse” of what is happening in the 757 and they do not include local music. Are you kidding me? How the hell can anyone tell members of Hampton Roads that they know what is going on in the seven cities and not include local music. This is one of the reasons that people don’t realize that there is a thriving local scene.

I don’t watch a lot of television with the exception of political news, some hockey, and three network shows. One was The Shield, which to me, was the greatest show ever made for the small screen. The second is the comedy Scrubs, and the third is the show that has inspired this blog. How I Met Your Mother is a show about a guy telling his children about…well….. how he met their mother. This past Monday, the show talked about a concept that just screamed for me to talk about. It’s called the Murtaugh list

The beach has a lot of local music history. Places like the Bayou and Rouges and the original Peppermint Beach club gave locals awesome places to play. Anyone who has lived here for any amount of time can tell you story after story about watching one of their favorite local bands play these places. Some can tell you stories about how these bands played for some national acts. Some can tell you stories about drunken hook ups after a show, all can tell you about the great times that had playing on the beach.

Life is funny. I just had a wonderful weekend. My time with my girlfriend was perfect. I got to see a good friend of mine for his birthday. I saw my alma mater win a game in the NCAA tourney and come close to winning a second one. I picked up some extra hours at work. A lot of really good positive things but something happened that made it really special. I finally let go

Most of the people in the military joined knowing that they were going to have to sacrifice and do it willingly. All that they really want is what was promised to them. The education benefits, the medical benefits, the on the job training that they can take out into the civilian world. Now President Obama has decided that he wants to take away one the most important benefits that was promised to these people who put in on the line for this country. President Obama is getting ready to introduce a plan that will have private insurance pay for medical treatment of service related disabilities and illness.

So now for those of you who have ever met me, you know that I love to eat. I love to eat a lot. I’m a big fan of food. Steaks, pork chops, rice and beans, mash potatoes, I mean I love food and I’m sure that a lot of you guys do also. Well on Sunday, the 15th, a chef named Edward Storey and a restaurant called Bardo have decided to up the ante…….if your not scared.

When it comes to hate, the left doesn’t need to look any farther than the ends of their own noses. The spectrum goes from Keith Olbermann telling President Bush to “shut the hell up” to Rachel Maddow having her piece on President Bush’s last speech titled “Goodbye, Good Riddance”. We consistently hear from shows like The View and Real Time with Bill Maher the bashing of members of the conservative side. Why should Rush be singled out?

Sometimes we would sit in his garage during the summer and get drunk. He’s a Crown Royal guy, while I’m a big fan of Mister Jack Daniels. Well after the drinks have been flowing and we get past the talk of life’s unfair treatment of us, we get to the game that I am going to invite you guys to play right now. Are you ready?

I really love the local music scene. I love the bands. I love the passion they play with. I love how they believe in their music. I honestly believe that we have all kinds of music that could be mixed into the playlist of ANY mainstream radio station and no one would have any idea that they were playing a gig right down the block. That is how good the music is in this area.

This time, I started to focus on the voice of Steely Dan, Donald Fagan. If you take some time and listen to how his voice falls right in with the instruments, becoming one of them, you can understand why the band is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and why they are loved and respected by members of all genres of music. This of course got the thought train going and it inevitably ends with the best male vocals of the rock and roll era.

Can’t you guys really see what is going on here? Wake up people. The way things are going, you guys won’t be able to criticize the very country that you want us to become.

So we were promised change with this new administration. We would get a break from the same old partisan politics that have shaped the last 8 years of policy. No longer would we have to deal with a government that lies to the public and that goes out of it’s way to earn the ire of the world politic. We would be dealing with an administration that would be reaching across the aisle to the “enemy” and would be handing out the olive branch of peace. Democrat and Republican working side by side. We would now be dealing with an administration that cares for the people. So let’s see how they are doing with “change”.

It all comes from my viewing of Night Of The Living Dead when I was seven years old and developed an irrational fear of zombies. Yes until about 2 years ago, I really was scared of the dead coming back to life as they did in that horror classic. Afraid to the point that I had a hard time entering the cemetary when my parents passed away. The remake of Dawn of the Dead with the super fast zombies did nothing to help me or my irrational fear.

If you had a wonderful nights sleep, and are gently shaken out of an incredibly sound slumber, it is almost euphoric in feeling. It almost makes you feel like a child who is slowly coming out of a magical dream world and carefully being re-introduced to life, surrounded by a warm, cozy environment that is easing you into a bright new day that is full of promise and adventure.

I probably would have started working for some lobbying or political action group. I would have ended up going from an ambitious, wide eyed, young man set to change the world, into….well a Puerto Rican version of Nancy Pelosi, and that my friends, isn’t pretty for anyone.

Chicken wings, pizza, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, potato chips, pretzels, deviled eggs, pigs in a blanket, meatballs, sub sandwiches, cheese with crackers, hot dogs, braughts, Italian sausages, hot sausages, fried cheese sticks. fried poppers, chips and salsa, 7 layer bean dips, fried chicken, French fries, potato skins, steak fries, grilled steak, meatloaf, baked ham, popcorn, fruit salad, salads, and of course, every type of dip imaginable.

The local music scene also comes from no less of a pedigree than Gene Vincent and Ruth Brown my friends. Anywhere from Bruce Hornsby to N.E.R.D to Waxing Poetics to Missy Elliot can be heard on the national charts. Bands like The Left Wing Facist could have made it bigger. Bands like The X-Raves, Snuff and Luckytown should have.

With President Obama, the head of the Democratic Party telling members of the Republican party not to listen to anyone who speaks against him, especially someone who has any kind of public voice, this brings us closer to an Owellian realitiy than we ever had with Bush 43.

This was a promise that no only showed that President Obama was serious about “Change” in the government, it showed he was serious about “Change” in how the government conducts it’s business. He really could have made a difference in how people view the ethics of our politicians, and he blew it.

It’s nearly 2 in the morning as I start this blog. I was getting ready to go to sleep when I read a very wonderful article on Fox News.com. The article was about Roe Vs Wade and the rights of the father, (The Fox Forum, Roe Vs Wade and The Rights of The Father, Tommy De Seno dated January 22nd 2009). In this article, the author Mr. De Seno, asks a very simple question. What rights do the fathers have of an aborted child? The answer as we all know is none.
